Thank you!
I used your half ironman training program
for 18 weeks before I attempted my first half ironman. Not only did I
finish, but I placed first in my age group.

Dear Hazen
After not getting better in previous Sprint Triathlons, I followed
your 10
week plan last year and lowered my time by almost 5 minutes.
This April in Clermont is my first Olympic Distance after doing Sprints
the last two years. Short of getting a personal coach, Tri Newbies
has been a great help, not just for the training plans, but general
info.

Just ran my first Tri – the Olympic length
Make-a-Wish Triathlon held at Bethany Beach, DE. I followed your
beginner Olympic length training program, using a heart rate monitor set
at a low end of my aerobic range, just like you suggest. I stuck to the
program about 90% of the time. I was in pretty poor shape to begin with,
although I did meet the prerequisites you outline. I could barely run 12
min/mile without sending my heart rate out of range. By week 8, I could
run 6 miles at 10 min/mile with my heart rate right on target at 141.
All in all, the event was a success. At no time
during the tri did I feel like I could not complete the race. I swam
strong, biked strong and ran strong. I never stopped and my pace was
steady throughout the entire event. I owe it all to your training
program and advice. I’m looking forward to next year, and following
your 18 week Olympic program. Thanks again for a great website with
great information!!! Matt MD
I wanted to thank you for
all the helpful information provided by your site. I recently
competed in my first ever triathlon, the "Little Smokies" 1/2
Iron in Portsmouth, OH. When I started your 18 week program I had
never ran more than 3 miles in my life, but I was an ok swimmer as well
as biker. Through the training, I lost over 35 lbs and ended up
finishing in just under 7 hrs (2nd in my weight class) on an extremely
difficult 1/2 Ironman course. (I am 27 - 225lbs). My average heart
rate was 166 for the entire race, and at no point did I ever consider
not finishing.
I stuck to your program
with rare exception and improved my physical condition immensely.
I am eager to run several more tri's this season and have recommended
your site to numerous friends (who are all hooked on your workouts).
We love reading the articles as well. Thanks again, I am so proud
of this accomplishment and TNO was a huge part of my success!
Sincerely,
J. S.
PS - My dog sends his
thanks too for all the running workouts...
Tri-newbies,
I
just wanted to say thanks for all the info you have available on line
for free. I am 22 and have been thinking about doing the Ironman since I
saw it on TV in high school. I used to run cross country in the past and
always wanted to know the limits on my body. This week I am starting to
train using beginner programs that I got off your website. I am in
moderately good shape except that I weigh 198 lbs, but aerobically I can
still do pretty well on the Army Physical Fitness Test. I hope in a year
I could be on your testimonials page! Seriously, thanks for having a
wealth of info for beginners like me that do not need to pay for a coach
yet.
Sincerely,
Spc. M. A.
Your 18-week program & web site became a valuable resource for
my success I had no clue what to do until I used your program.
Thank you and God bless you all,
